Description:

Since 1985, Digi International has been a pioneer in wireless communication, forging the future for connected devices and responding to the needs of the people and enterprises that use them. Before the Internet of Things was a thing, we built M2M and IoT devices, adapted to evolving network standards, and optimized data communications around the most advanced protocols and emerging technologies. From radio frequency modems to gateways, cellular routers, networking devices, embedded system-on-modules (SOM) and single-board computers (SBCs), Digi's solutions have continually grown to serve anextensive breadth of applications across the IoT landscape. Today, our IoT offerings include sensor-based solutions, a sophisticated platform for remotely monitoring device deployments of any size, anywhere, as well as professional design, implementation and certification teams to help you carry out your vision, no matter how large or small.

Digi International is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Network Architect to define, design, and evolve the enterprise network architecture to support business growth, security, and operational excellence. This role is critical to ensuring scalable, secure, and resilient network connectivity across the organization, including WAN, campus, datacenter, and cloud environments.

The Senior Network Architect will provide strategic direction and hands-on technical leadership for key initiatives such as SD-WAN and Secure Service Edge (SSE) implementation, network segmentation strategy, office moves, and datacenter network upgrades. This role partners closely with infrastructure, security, and business stakeholders to deliver modern networking solutions aligned with Digi's long-term technology roadmap.

  • Lead and accelerate SD-WAN and Secure Service Edge (SSE) implementation, reducing branch deployment timelines and strengthening Zero Trust enforcement.
  • Design and implement an enterprise network segmentation strategy that reduces cybersecurity risk and supports audit and compliance readiness.
  • Reduce unplanned network outages by 50% and improve MTTR for critical incidents by 30% through architectural modernization and operational standards.
  • Provide architectural leadership for office moves, site consolidations, and acquisitions, ensuring first-time-right implementations with no extended outages.
  • Lead datacenter network modernization initiatives to improve resiliency, scalability, and performance capacity.
  • Reduce external contractor dependency and third-party spend by building internal architecture capability and stabilizing network operations.
  • Serve as senior technical authority and mentor to elevate next-generation networking skills across the team.

Who You Are and What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering and architecture roles.
  • Strong understanding of routing, switching, WAN, and datacenter networking technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with SD-WAN platforms and enterprise firewall solutions.
  • Experience designing or supporting Secure Service Edge (SSE) or Zero Trust network architectures.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across infrastructure, security, and business teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Proven experience leading initiatives from architecture design through implementation.

Desired But Not Required
  • Experience with SSE platforms including HPE Axis, Zscaler, Prisma, or Netskope.
  • Cloud networking experience in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent.
