NoSQL Database Administrator

Location: Remote, Raleigh, NC

Duration: 10 months

Overview:

Seeking for a Senior NoSQL Database Administrator to support the Property Engagement Platform (PEP), a mission-critical application utilizing AWS DynamoDB and DAX along with other NoSQL technologies. This role is vital for ensuring availability, performance, and operational consistency for latency-sensitive and high-throughput workloads.

Responsibilities:

• Manage operational support and lifecycle for DynamoDB and DAX environments.
• Collaborate with PEP teams to design and validate data models and access patterns.
• Plan and manage DynamoDB capacity, including cost optimization strategies.
• Support DAX clusters, focusing on cache tuning and performance validation.
• Design low-impact change and deployment strategies for NoSQL workloads.
• Monitor environments using CloudWatch and Datadog, addressing performance issues.
• Implement security controls, including IAM access and encryption policies.
• Work with Cloud Engineering and DevOps teams to manage resources using Terraform.
• Participate in incident response and on-call rotations.
• Create operational documentation and best practices for NoSQL usage.
• Advise on NoSQL vs relational database tradeoffs for application use cases.

• Experience supporting DynamoDB in production environments.
• Hands-on experience with DAX and performance tuning.
• Strong understanding of NoSQL data modeling and access pattern design.
• Experience operating NoSQL systems at scale with high availability.
• Knowledge of AWS services including IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, and KMS.
• Experience with Terraform or similar IaC tools for managing infrastructure.
• Experience supporting 24/7 production platforms and on-call rotations.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and communicate effectively.

• Experience with Couchbase, Amazon DocumentDB, or MongoDB-compatible platforms.
• Familiarity with Datadog for monitoring and alerting.
• Background transitioning from relational databases to NoSQL platforms.
• Understanding of high-scale, multi-region application architectures.
