Responsibilities:

  • Design complex industrial and nuclear-related systems from requirements development through final design.
  • Provide oversight to vendors developing mechanical system and component designs.
  • Coordinate review of analyses such as thermal, seismic, structural, pipe stress, heat transfer, and other technical studies performed by others, and integrate those results into overall plant design.

  • Identify and apply the appropriate design codes and standards to plant systems, including ASME, ANS, ASTM, IEEE, NFPA, and related requirements.
  • Analyze and allocate regulatory criteria and standards to complex system design activities.
  • Support planning efforts and maintain schedule adherence for system design work and its integration into the overall plant delivery schedule.
  • Manage drawing packages for system designs, including P&IDs, 3D models, and system interface drawings.
  • Provide technical direction and oversight to supplier projects, ensuring timely delivery of technical data and successful completion of design reviews.
  • Establish and maintain system requirements and specification documents, including engineering design specifications for major plant equipment.
  • Propose, initiate, and oversee testing programs for system qualification, as needed.
  • Generate design packages for systems, subsystems, and equipment, including coordination of calculations, design reports, mechanical drawings, and engineering specifications.
  • Contribute in a dynamic environment where responsibilities may evolve and new technical challenges arise.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university.
  • 4+ years of direct experience demonstrating strong mechanical or chemical systems engineering capability.
  • Experience with high-temperature systems and multidisciplinary integration is highly desired.

  • Ability to manage projects with competing objectives and design constraints and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Ability to work on simultaneous tasks requiring a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Experience working to quality standards on design activities, such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001, is desired.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
