ABOUT THIS POSITION
The City of Phoenix Water Services Department, one of the nation's largest potable water utilities, treats and delivers safe, reliable drinking water to 1.5 million customers across approximately 540 square miles. Phoenix Water Services also manages the sewer collection system and treats wastewater for 2.5 million residents in metropolitan Phoenix.
The Operations & Maintenance Supervisor provides front-line supervision for a group or section of Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technicians, Water Systems Operators, and specialty trades such as machinists, industrial maintenance mechanics, senior utility operators, planner/schedulers, and equipment operators involved in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of water and/or wastewater facilities and remote sites. The O&M Supervisor is expected to monitor the technical performance of facilities in their assigned areas and make any necessary adjustments to ensure that all requirements of state and federal regulatory agencies are met. The O&M Supervisor may also serve as Incident Commander or Emergency Responder in the event of chemical emergencies.
This position will be located at the Cave Creek Water Reclamation Plant.

SALARY Pay Range: $37.76 to $53.13 per hour.
Hiring Range: $37.76 to $45.89 per hour.

Internal Only: Please understand that this is pay grade 060. If selected, your salary offer will be based on the applicable promotion or demotion worksheet in accordance with the City Pay Ordinance.

- Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Five years of experience in water production or wastewater treatment operations or maintenance, including some supervisory or lead experience.
- Basic college course work in water/wastewater treatment, biology, chemistry, mathematics, engineering, or a related field.
- Grade 3 ADEQ Wastewater Treatment certification at time of application.
- Possession of a Grade 4 ADEQ Wastewater Treatment certification by the end of probation is required.
- If you possess certification from another state or jurisdiction, please contact the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality ( for Arizona Request for Operator Certification Reciprocity procedures and certification equivalency.
- Requires working irregular hours, shifts, weekends, holidays, nights, and stand-by.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
- These positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Grade 4 ADEQ Water Treatment certification.
- Wastewater Treatment Plant experience (plant capacity greater than 10 MGD).
- Industrial maintenance experience.
- Experience compiling and developing operational reports.
- Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) experience.
